Announcing Chalk - a new Twitter client

Last November I revealed that I was working on a Twitter client for Mac OS X and iPhone, then codenamed "TC" (Twitter Client). It's coming nearer to fruition now, and I have a final product name for it: "Chalk". I've been working hard on the art and style for the UI, and today I finalized the icon design. Like my other apps, I've kept it simple; it has a colour scheme reminiscent of the Twitter "fail whale", but more vibrant and lightning-y (to borrow a term from Pixar). Although it looks a bit more washed-out on the web here (due to the colour profile), believe me it looks awesome on the iPhone. I'm still working on the app user interface; I haven't finalized the design yet, and I'm experimenting between 'bubble' mode (a la Twinkle, or my previous blog post) and 'professional' mode, as seen below: I have only started the 'view tweet' mode, so for the time being I have just re-implemented it the way Tweetie (my favourite client!) does it, tweet-thread-following included, as those familiar with Tweetie will recognize. Please excuse its 'copycat' appearance while I redesign it: I'm trying not to pile on the features, instead making something that looks great and works well (it's lightning-fast too!), which means I'll also be able to finish it and share it with you as soon as possible!

But will it have Twitlonger support?

It was going to be able to do multiple tweets for messages over 140 chars, instead of using a third party service.

If it deals with inline @ replies from people you don't follow, I will be tempted.

This looks great. I definitely prefer a "professional" view rather than "Bubble view"... Can't wait to try this.
